Upgrade CKEditor

Hi all.

As I have experienced and read in other forum posts, the version of CKEditor bundled with Liferay versions 6.0 and 6.1 does NOT work on IOS devices. Apparently Apple made a change to Safari in a recent IOS release that provided the ability for CKEditor to work on IOS devices, and the folks at CKEditor subsequently made a release to take advantage of the IOS update. I believe this was CKEditor 3.6.4. Liferay uses CKEditor 3.5.3.

Liferay apparently has not timeline to upgrade CKEdtior, so it is left to us to upgrade it ourselves. However, from what I have read, this appears to be no easy feat. Has anyone successfully done this? What was involved in the process? Is the process documented anywhere that we could follow?

Thanks all. Any tips and/or help is appreciated. If it is possible to upgrade, we will be sure to document the process so that we can share it with everyone so that others facing this situation can have a clear roadmap.

Why don't you try posting to the Suggestions and Features forum and ask Liferay.com to upgrade it.

Thanks Hitoshi. I have made a post in the feature request board asking for CKEditor to be upgraded.

If anyone else is interested in seeing this get done, please view the post and vote it, or the referenced ticket, up so that Liferay knows that people want this done.
