Difference MultiVMPoolUtil SingleVMPoolUtil?

I want to cache some results in my custom portlet. So i have seen MultiVMPoolUtil and SingleVMPoolUtil classes are useful.

But which class to be preferred ?

This forum is for the Liferay Sync desktop/mobile applications. You will have better luck getting good answers in the portal forums.

But from a quick search, it appears MultiVMPoolUtil is for distributed/clustered cache.
