Following is a section from the "User Interface page in the Admistration Guide"

Additionally, Liferay supports portlets written in other programming languages, such as PHP, Ruby, Groovy, or Python. Sample portlets written in these languages are available to download from our Sourceforge site (http://sourceforge.net/projects/lportal) or can be checked out from our Subversion repository (https://lportal .svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/lporta
l).

I think files provided in the SVN links are out of date (Revision 24306)!

The recent svn directory is at the following location (Revision 78488):
http://svn.liferay.com/repos/public/plugins/trunk/

Wow.. indeed those are old.. I'm surprised the source is still on sourceforge. I'll let those responsible know.
