OK, here what should be done (Unix):

The point is to run the appserver on locale with UTF-8 encoding. Second, I also gave appserver an option "file.encoding" that points to "utf8" (just to be sure). Now it works fine. However, I think Zip writer should put this by default, overriding everything from the system!!!

Yes. I've just developed a portlet (with Vaadin GUI) that allows to tweak any user in any way possible, update LAR's on each one, change them separately etc.

No voting needed anymore. :-)

Translation to Ukrainian

this has been done for a while ago: https://www.liferay.com/community/forums/-/message_boards/message/4753387 and this issue http://issues.liferay.com/browse/LPS-8543 has been added. And then Julio Camarero promised to respond (https://www.liferay.com/community/forums/-/message_boards/message/4324416).

But nothing happening.

Is it intentional ignore or nobody cares or what? Kinda pity such behavior, you know...

For some too weird reasons, my thread about Ukrainian translations is just blocked and I have no permissions to brag about that:

1. Issue about new language is created: http://issues.liferay.com/browse/LPS-8543
2. Added two files: translation to Ukrainian and a flag.
3. Expecting my approval as Ukrainian translation lead.

Great! Thanks.
Because we're still in a progress, but soon we will finish it completely (I guess, next week or so). Ukrainian has problems with English in some cases, so it is sometimes not really easy to translate it properly, without making people laugh. ;-)

Please note, we're targeting 5.2.3 version so far.

How to update user homes with new .lar?

Happy New Year, folks!
Health, wisdom and great products in new year!

I am using "default.user.private.layout.lar" property in order to new users are getting preset home with theme etc. This works fine. Now I have a little question: if I decide to add something new to all users homes (e.g. I've developed completely new portlet for social networking) — how it supposed to appear in each user's home just like this, since user's homes are not editable (I don't want to allow that)?

Liferay version: 5.3.2.
