Liferay Announces Strong Sales Growth in Europe

Enterprise portal provider opens new office in the UK, names New Director of Operations in Europe with strategic hires in France, Benelux

FRANKFURT, Germany and LONDON, UK — (May 2, 2012) — Liferay, Inc., provider of the world's leading enterprise-class open source portal, announced today a more than doubling in European sales with a significant rise in the demand for Liferay's technologies in the region. In support of the growth in business, the company has opened a new office in the UK while recently naming a new Director of Operations in Europe and making strategic hires to support key European markets.

"We are excited to see Liferay gaining significant traction in the European markets," said Bryan Cheung, Liferay's CEO. "The number and quality of our customers show Liferay is providing significant value. With our recently expanded team of talented business managers and a new corporate presence in the UK, Liferay's European offices are well-positioned to meet this burgeoning demand."

Liferay's expansion in Europe follows its execution of a strong channel strategy, which resulted in a 150 percent growth in European sales in 2011 over the previous year and the addition of over 50 partners over a two-year period. The portal provider has made significant inroads throughout the region, including in the UK, where there has been a surge in demand for Liferay products, particularly in the public sector as the adoption of open-source technologies grows. The new office in London joins existing offices in Frankfurt, Madrid, and Budapest to become Liferay's fourth to open in Europe over the last six years.

Joseph Shum, formerly General Manager of Liferay's European headquarters in Germany, has taken a new role as Director of Operations in Europe. In his new position, Shum will work to further strengthen coordinated sales and operations execution among the company's European offices to better serve the region. Also joining the team is Ruud Kluivers as Senior Manager, Business Development, to support customers in the Benelux, where Liferay has seen success with the many European Union organizations headquartered in that region. In France, Marc Brassier joins Liferay as Alliance Manager to support Liferay's strong roster of French partners and customers, which include Société Générale and Barclay's.

Liferay's premier event in Europe this year will be the Europe Symposium 2012, which will take place in Wiesbaden, Germany, from October 16 to 17. To meet the team in person this month, join Liferay at one of the following events:

Nomination to Board of Directors underscores Liferay's increased commitment to extensible, easier to manage software

LOS ANGELES – (February 18, 2015) – Liferay, Inc., which makes enterprise, open source portals, today announced that it is now a Strategic Member of the OSGi Alliance and has been voted a seat on the Board of Directors. The announcement comes during Liferay's second year as a member of the worldwide consortium of technology innovators and will give the company representation in both the operations and technical sides of the organization.

Liferay's Senior Software Architect Ray Augé was elected to the OSGi Alliance Board of Directors. Other companies represented on the Board include IBM, Oracle, Salesforce.com, NTT, Adobe, Paremus, ProSyst Software and Software AG. Augé was also selected to co-chair the Enterprise Expert Group, which defines the technical requirements and specifications needed to use the OSGi Service Platform in enterprise business scenarios.

Liferay's expanded role within the OSGi Alliance means greater influence over the direction of OSGi specifications to meet the needs of Liferay customers. The effort also falls in line with the company's long-term investment in modularity. First introduced into the product in Liferay Portal 6.2, OSGi is a framework for developing modular Java applications that will continue to be used and developed in future versions of the platform. Liferay believes the increased componentization of applications into software modules will mean greater value for Liferay users—it will simplify portal implementations, lead to an easier development process to quickly deliver new features, and reduce complexity for maintenance and upgrades.

"We at Liferay are believers in the modular approach to software development and in the OSGi Alliance's role to reducing software complexity for the greater good," said Ray Augé, Liferay's Senior Software Architect. "With that mission in mind, we're excited to work with the smart people and experienced companies at the OSGi Alliance who are solving real-world problems for software developers."

"Ray and the Liferay team are welcome additions to OSGi Alliance's leadership group," said Susan Schwarze, VP and Director of the OSGi Alliance Board. "We look forward to the continued knowledge Liferay brings from nearly 15 years creating Java-based software that is used by some of the world's biggest companies. The technical expertise that Ray and the team bring will be an asset for the consortium and we look forward to jointly accomplishing our strategic goals for Cloud and the Internet of Things."
