Hi All,
Liferay held its annual East Coast Symposium last week. We had a good turnout and had several community-oriented discussions.
Szymon from
eo Networks and
Artur from
Vaadin were chosen as speakers from the community, and gave excellent presentations, and we had thoughtful discussions afterward on a range of topics. One of the things we talked about was getting the community more involved in the upcoming 6.1 CE release, more so than we had for the 6.0.6 CE release.
So to that end I'm going to organize two things in advance of the 6.1 release later this summer -
1. BugSquad - this will be a volunteer effort to get an early copy of 6.1 and root out bugs (as compared to the latest 6.0 EE release) before ship. Not necessarily fixing said bugs, but finding them and documenting them for the Liferay QA folks triage and potentially fix before ship. Of course any diagnosis and/or fixes are, as always, highly appreciated! This would involve testing the 6.1 CE release candidate vs. the latest 6.0 EE release, documenting any issues (especially in areas where our automated tests are weak or non-existant), and in general keeping our release quality high.
2. Community Verifier Program. I alluded to this in a
blog post a while back, and now that the website and JIRA upgrades are complete, we are at a point where we can implement this. This program gives you additional rights in JIRA to join the Liferay engineering team to "clean up" the set of bugs already present in advance of the 6.1 release. The main goal here is to look at existing reported bugs, triage them to determine if it still exists in the latest 6.0 release, and if so, judge whether the severity is accurate, and update the fields (affected version, labels, categorization, description, etc) as necessary. More importantly, if the bug no longer exists, you can recommend closure and update the bug to denote which release it was fixed in (probably 6.0). There will be standardized text to use for various cases that we have developed for use. The JIRA rights are already set up,
all we need are volunteers!
If you're interested in participating, please let me know via this thread. This time, instead of prizes, every volunteer will get something, including recognition on the website and elevated JIRA rights for #2 (those rights will extend beyond the 6.1 release!).
Firmi prego dentro per inbandierare questo come inadeguato.
