Hi,

I want to integrate Dimdim to Liferay, Can this be done?
Visit Dimdimfor more information on it,
dimdim is the world’s first free web meeting service based on the open source platform. dimdim is a browser-based web 2.0 service that allows anybody to share their desktop, show slides, as well as talk, listen, chat, and broadcast via webcam. dimdim’s hosted service is available for free and can be easily used for small gatherings, to seminars with hundreds of attendees. With absolutely no software to download for attendees, dimdim gives everyone the opportunity to hold Web meetings and to customize and brand these meetings.

Please let me know your views on this.

Regards,
Saurabh.

I don't think that would be easy, it doesn't say it's a portlet. It's open source, so you can try making it's source code into a portlet.

Hi Roman,

Thanks for the response.

Actually yes it is not in the form of portlet and I think the source is in VC++.
So can we take that source and have it in a portlet form?

Regards,
Saurabh.

it depends how much time and effort you want to spend doing the porting. I would say it would be not easy at all if it is written in C++ .

I'm afraid I need to disagree with the other posts. But this all depends on what you mean by integrate.

I think it would be relatively easy to integrate assuming your intent is to open a new window for dim dim services.

You should do the following:

1. Install dimdim locally or use their hosted service
2. Define how you want to use dim dim.. I assume the following:
a. click a link to host a meeting
b. click a link to join a meeting
3. Given the dimdim api, you can launch meetings based on a url, so integration wise, you should only need to include these urls in the content of your portlets or journal articles and their dimdim.js file.
4. If hosting dimdim on your own server you should be able to modify it somehow to handle authentication or synchronization with your liferay user database.
5. In using their hosted sevice, provide a link where a user can register on dim dim's site, and then possibly store that information in additional fields in liferay.

I also checked into dimdim.. Looks like it runs as a webapp in TOMCAT!

That rocks... Their authentication is based on an email list in a text file. So it should be possible to modify their source and have it integrate with liferay.

I think this is a very cool find and am glad you posted about it.

Please let me know if you plan on integration with it.

i have one problem, when iam logging out from my organisation site , the site is redirecting to the

http://localhost:8080/c/portal, what i must do for that thing. I think we must change the path in one file, if it is correct

in which file we must change it.
