I've upgraded to 6.1 CE GA2 recently. I notice one thing that seems to be different then my previous 6.05 version when it comes to searching for users with the Control Panel's advanced search facilities. I used to be able to enter a partial email address which would result in retrieving all the users whose email contained the partial address. This no longer seems to work in 6.1 CE GA2. I can only search using the full address. Is there some new setting for searching that I'm missing. Thanks.

By the way I think this problem is related to lucene not allowing leading wildcard searches by default. I can perform trailing wildcard searches ok. Can leading wildcard searches be enabled in Liferay?

I'm using the editor that comes with Liferay for creating web content display.

We are on an EC2 large (8gb ram and 2 cores). Mysql is on the same box as well.

Again I'm talking about the out of the box CMS web content editor that comes with Liferay 6.11, so this is nothing that we've developed or added.

I'm on a win2008 server with 8gb memory and two Zeon processors. Actually its an EC2 instance, however its the same exact instance that I had my 6.05 portal deployed on. 6.05 did not have the same kind of issues that I'm seeing with 6.11.

I'm using a MySql database for Liferay's schema and again its the same exact database that I had 6.05 on as well

So the major change was from 6.05 to 6.11.

I just upgraded a 6.05 portal to 6.11 GA2. For the most part everything seems to work ok and the upgrade process went fairly smootth. We did migrate all are custom development as for 6.11.

The one issue I'm noticing is with the Content Management System, especially the web content editor. Using it is very slow and causes a tremendous cpu load to occur.

Is there something that can be done about this. We didn't really notice this problem with 6.05.

Actually people are already working on the ticket I submitted, so it would seem the the ticket you referred to didn't fully address the issue.

There is now more then on a pre service action class that need to be listed with the like the following:

I had an extension that I wrote for 6.0..5 the overrides com.liferay.portal.events.ServicePreAction. I was using this extension the deny access to the control panel for certain users. Here's the code I was using :

I know that isViewableGroup is now deprecated so I've tried replacing it with something else. It doesn't to matter what I put in the class now because as soon as it deploys I get the following exception:

As soon as I remove servlet.service.events.pre=com.salesquest.portal.events.SQServicePreAction form my portal ext properties file the exception goes away. Can theis class no longer be overwritten for some Any help understanding this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I think it should be mentioned that Liferay is a deployment platform and not just a framework for web app development. As a platform it provides a tremendous amount of infrastructure out of the box that can be used immediately without any custom development.

Liferay also doesn't restrict from using other web development frameworks, such as Icefaces and Vaadin, for developing your custom portlets. I know that both of these frameworks are Ajax enabled.

I finally figured out what was breaking my autologin in 6.1.1. In the com.liferay.portal.servlet.filters.autologin.AutoLoginFilter the following code had been added to the to the getLoginRemoteUser method:

I do have live users enabled so this new code inconveniently invalidated my user session. Commenting out this code and redeploying this class as part of my extension allowed my autologin to now work. I'm not sure why live users enabled is now being check in this method but this will probably break any autologin if live users are enabled. This was the only thing that seem to be different between the 6.0 version and the 6.1 version of the getLoginRemoteUser method in the com.liferay.portal.servlet.filters.autologin.AutoLoginFilter.

One other thing I noticed is that this code passes the userId to the UserTrackerLocalServiceUtil.fetchUserTracker method. This doesn't seem to be correct because the javadocs says that the argument should be the userTrackerId, which is not the same as the userId. I think that passing the userId will always cause the method to return null. This new code just doesn't make any sense to me.

I recently migrated my 6.05 portal to 6.1 GA2. I used the automatic upgrade process to perform this migration. Everything seems to be working but when I click the permissions button for a page the panel opens but all I see is $theme.include($content_include) being displayed.

The following exception is also thrown in the portal's console:

6.05 AutoLogin not working in 6.1 GA2

I have a custom AutoLogin class that worked fine in 6.05 but not in 6.1 GA2. When I step through the code with a debugger everything seems to execute correctly and my credentials array gets built and returned. However, instead of going to my requested page I'm landing on the on the sign in page. Does anyone know of any changes that were made for autologins in 6.1? I should mention that I'm passing the encrypted liferay password in my request. Here's my code:

Removing that render for the getter did clear up my NoRowFound exception.

But I'm still seeing "WARN ReceivePing:75 - could not get a valid queue for" in my log.

Can you tell me what that's about?

Oh boy, I can't believe I put the SessionRenderer.render(groupName) call in a getter. I've used this hundreds of times before but never inside a getter. I just went back and double checked my usage of SessionRenderer.render(groupName) in my other code. In no other case was it in a getter. I must of had a momentary lapse of sanity.
I'm hoping that this might be the cause of my original problem only because I've never experienced this issue before with any of my previous code.

In any event its a necessary fix.

Not sure how difficult it would be to upgrade to 3.0. Tried going to 2.0 in the past but it broke some of my code. I have lots of other 1.82 portlet that seem to work fine on both this new portal and my old portal that's kind of why I stuck with 1.82.

One hypothesis I have is that the session is timeout while a popup is open.

I also start to see several "WARN ReceivePing:75 - could not get a valid queue for 26". Not sure if this is significant.

Also I'm not using any ice:panelSeries tags, but I am using datatables
