Can I replace Kaleo and use it process Aperte Reports on Liferay?

At this moment we are approaching Aperte Workflow <-> Liferay integration on a different angle - as Liferay being an all-around intranet platform for Aperte Workflow. Liferay grants us awesome features, such as user management, l&f control, SSO, etc. - so that we don't have to re-implement them ourselves! and still we can enhance Liferay experience with full-fledged BPM Suite for complex business processes, connecting different systems and departments in an enterprise.

As the feature you ask for (replacement of Kaleo for Workflow functionality on Liferay's Assets) has been raised by other people too, it is scheduled on our roadmap. But please remember, that even now Aperte Workflow is much more than that.

As Kaleo Workflow is in my opinion great for simple workflow processes (e.g. approval) and integrates into Liferay Workflow UI in the Control Panel really nice, Aperte Workflow is aimed at more complex business processes with rich UI in Vaadin, integration, complex logic, etc. Also it is worth noting, that we provide our own BPM user tasks view, outside of Liferay Control Panel. In theory, a reverse integration (display tasks from Kaleo in Aperte Workflow Activities portlet) could be possible too.
