Custom CSS

Hello Everyone, I'm new to Liferay and I don't quite know my way around it yet. My first task I would like to tackle is how do i edit the master css that gets populated through a entire portlet through the backend. Any suggestions as to how I may accomplish this?

How about developing a theme?

Hi John Nguyen,
create a new theme(http://www.integratingstuff.com/2011/11/30/styling-liferay-creating-a-liferay-theme/)
in the folder structure go to _diffs/css/custom.css
and you can override any style

The only problem is that I can't access the ftp server. My only hope is through the liferays admin panels, is this possible?

Yes, just create a theme war file. Go to Control Panel -> Server Administration. There should a menu item on uploading plugin.
Just upload your theme war file from this page.

How do I export an existing site's war file so that its the same one I'm editing on my local. Again, thanks for your quick response. I appreciate your help!

You can't export it as a WAR file but here LAR file comes in for help. This is Liferay Archive file which contains a lot of information of your site including the Roles you have made for your Site. To export a LAR file go to Site Pages option of Control Panel and there on top of the panel, you find Export/Import buttons.
