Why use spring with liferay

Hi, can anybody tell me what are the advantages of using spring mvc with liferay? I have to decide whther i should go for sping or simple Liferay MVC.

Thanks Hitoshi for your reply, but this links seems to be more like advantage of portlet framework in spring. I want the comparision between portlet with and without spring.
