Liferay application URL showing Network Error (tcp_error) on Ubuntu

I am using Liferay Portal 6.1 CE for my application and it is working fine on Ubuntu Server 13.04. But after few hours I am not able to access my application URL, it is showing "Network Error (tcp_error)".

The default page of tomcat (say http://172.x.x.x) is showing "It works!" but application URL (say http://172.x.x.x:8080) is showing "Network Error (tcp_error)". If I will restart the server it will work fine but after keeping server idle for few hours again I am not able to access application.

I have checked the "screen saver" and "power saver" option is already disabled. Please guide me to resolve the issue.

There is a ideal timeout parameter which is creating problem for you of the os. I faced the same problem for some other application. Try it once. Check for other network parameters also.

Hi Naveen,

I already disabled timeout to "never". Even after connecting to server physically I am not able to access "http://localhost:8080" but "http://locathost" is showing default page of tomcat.
Not sure where is the problem. Can you guide me which parameters I have to check ?

Hi Sunil,

Can you tell me the environment of liferay your using. Are you using any databse, if yes where is that server resides. Did you customized the front page. It seems problem mainly with network end only.

Well I use Ubuntu along with Windows and in Ubuntu I always face network ID error. But this one article of you literally solved my problem and now I totally understand it. So thank you very much Sunil Rai for sharing this informative article.
