Partial DB restore - possible

Hi,

I was wondering whether it;s possible to do just a partial restore from a previous SQL dump, just a certain organization or site for instance. From the documentation, it doesn't seem supported by standard. But does anyone here know a plugin to use for that purpose, or even implemented a solution for partial restore?

Last resort would be our own custom implementation, which should also be doable somehow if the database layout has been done in a smart way.

There's Export and Import, e.g. restoring from exported data (xml/zip), not from SQL Dump. As there are many tables shared between the different organizations, and content is indexed (lucene etc) as well as stored outside of the database (document library) an SQL Dump will be incomplete at best. And if you've ever heard me and others talking about writing directly to the database, you don't want to do this any more.
