What means "requests" ?

From dockbar notification, it displays now two categories :
- notifications
- requests

What means the last category? How to populate it? How to hide it if not required?

The notification are is handled by the notification portlet so any modification to that are need to be done in the portlet.

The request area is responsible for displaying of request like friend request...
