Embed auto-generated content into CMS text - LifeRay 6

Hi,

I would like to embed non-WYSIWYG content into LifeRay CMS-portlet pages.
I'm very new to LifeRay and wondered what's the best way of doing this. The extra content would be dynamically generated graphs (e.g. google-visualisation API) or other html-code based on some remote data. Ideally this should sit within the WYSIWYG editor and be positionable and flow within the text.

Not sure if I can put a velocity function call into the WYSIWYG-source view #generateGraph(parameterA) which returns the html-code. But I'm new to web apps and wouldn't know where to start.

If that's not possible guess I would have to do it with portlets/plugins - however they would sit outside of the text content, if I understand the concept correctly.

Any code samples, links to documentation/examples, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Peter
