How to know user role from template vm

Hi , I wanted to know if possible to get the role of the user from the template vm with if , if yes please add an example , thnx

I'm sure you could get it, but the question is whether you should or not.

The templates are executed each time the page is rendered, so heavyweight logic should not be used...

If is mandatory for you, you can put as velocity variable and then retrieve that variable in your template.
