Message of the day portlet

is there any "Message of the Day " portlet available with liferay .

Hi Arvind-
We don't necessarily have a 'Message of the Day' portlet in name, however I'm sure you could use the Announcements portlet to the same effect.

You could also use the asset publisher and limit the display of items to be of a particular type with a specific expiration date.

Problem with Announcement portlet & Asset publisher is like you have to configure messages .
I would like some portlet which will quotes directly read from Database & display them based on some random mechanism.

may be we will develop by our self , i believe it should not take more time to implement such functionality.

Gotcha. There is nothing out of the box, but you could easily modify the Westminster Catechism or Global Prayer portlets to suit your needs.

Thanks for the idea ,
i looked into "Random Bible Verses" portlet . Although the content is not configurable , but when i saw the code i figured out how its working. It reads from a XML file & then looks up into biblegateway website to fetch actual content .
In my case , only XML part will do , i will put my messages in the XML & will fetch in the portlet .

Actually i developed it in my ext env ..

to share it , i need to convert in to plugin
