Is this delay normal when using Oracle?

Hi,
when starting up liferay on oracle XE i see kind of big delay:
21:01:08,146 INFO [DialectDetector:80] Determine dialect for Oracle 11
21:01:08,237 INFO [DialectDetector:145] Found dialect org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle10gDialect
Starting Liferay Portal Community Edition 6.1.0 CE (Paton / Build 6100 / January 6, 2012)
21:01:48,256 INFO [BaseDB:406] Database supports case sensitive queries
21:01:49,302 INFO [PluginPackageUtil:1096] Reading plugin package for the root context
Almost 40 seconds (if i understand correctly) liferay does something with the DB. System does not seem to be under heavy load, and there are plenty of resources. Can someone enlighten me what could be going on?
