about add theme's page

i use liferay 6.1.1
i have some question about the theme.

i want to create some page for my front page, i go [ Control Panel>Site Pages], and delete all page that i don't need such like page-- "What we do", and then, i don't know what to do. should i create some portlets? or where had UI help me to create some pages. can somebody teach me how to use "Add Page" panel.

if my question too strange, please let me know, i can explain more detail.
