I wouldn't want "Bekehrtvermächtnis-Erlaubnisalgorithmus" to appear in any released version, so I've translated the few diffs I've found since LPS-2363.
To be found in LPS-3183

Good to know - welcome.
You should use the latest available svn version and provide a patch on that version. Preferably announce your work here prior to beginning, so that there's no need to merge (as nobody then will start to translate at the same time).
Once you announce work and begin, make sure to provide your patch soon, so that others aren't forced to wait for too long until they start translating (should they want to).
Once you're done, create a Jira Issue, attach the patch (.native file is sufficient) and accept the contribution agreement, then announce the ticket id here.
That's it.

Something bad seems to have happened with this commit - the encoding was mixed up - see LPS-6788.
I'm currently working on it - along with adding the new translations that have been added since then. To be done in the next 2 days.

The patch attached to LPS-6788 is quite big - it contains a huge number of corrected encodings and I've resolved conflicts twice since the initial patch. Based on the patch size more conflicts are inevitable when the language files change again. The current state of the german translation in trunk is completely unusable due to the number of wrong encodings. Please make sure to accept (or reject) this patch shortly. I'd prefer not to resolve too many future conflicts...
Thanks

Hi Olaf,
Thanks for the fix.
I tried to apply your patch to the SVN files with Tortoise and unfortunately it didn't work.
Do I need Git or can I somehow make the patch work with Tortoise ?
Thanks in advance,
Kim

It should work with a standard patch, though you having problems with tortoise svn suggests that svn uses different mechanics- I didn't try, but it's easier to keep a patch on top of git than on top of svn, so I used this. Unfortunately there's no such thing as a 'standard patch' on windows...
I could provide an svn patch too, but would prefer to do so in order to commit this to svn, as I believe that the later the patch is applied, the more conflicts have to be resolved.
After all, it might be easier this way: I've uploaded the complete version (compressed), based on svn rev 43728 (e.g. now) to http://www.olafkock.de/outgoing/Language_de.properties.native.gz. The directory is emptied from time to time, but it'll be there at least for a week.
Have fun with it,
Olaf

Tobias, Julio,
this commit again got the encoding mixed up.
May I suggest to rather provide svn patch files instead of full copies? I believe that this would rather result in conflicts than in massive garbling of the translation if somehow the wrong encoding was used to interpret the file.
Julio,
please revert the commit and make sure that Language_de.properties is interpreted as UTF-8 when added to svn. You can see the (bad) result here: http://svn.liferay.com/browse/portal/trunk/portal-impl/src/content/Language_de.properties.native?r1=44867&r2=44756. The massive amount of changed single characters to some symbols should be notable without knowing the language.
As the issue is already closed, I cannot reopen it - but I'd rather get this issue corrected than open another issue.
Thanks,
Olaf

As I posted in the JIRA issue:
Hm.
I checked it twice and it was UTF-8!
very strange, since my whole system is indeed set to UTF-8.....
When I download the file that is attached to this issue, it is indeed UTF-8:
Even when I open it in an editor it is said to be UTF-8 (vim, kate).

Yes, the file attached to the Jira issue is UTF-8 encoded. I guess the error happened either with Julio's download, some svn settings or mis-adjustments. Java usually reads properties only in ISO-8859-1 - which is the reason for the escaped unicode characters that are contained within the Language*.properties (they are ISO-8859-1).
The reason why I suggested to post svn patches instead of complete files is, that this kind of error wouldn't render > 1400 lines unusable, but rather result in conflicts from the lines surrounding the changed ones - apart from being a lot shorter than the complete file. Also, during the time it takes to translate the file, more entries could have been added, which would get lost for a while (the build process would add them again, but somehow I find this to be undesirable)

Sorry guys,
I think it was my fault, I am very sorry about that.
I just reverted my commit and committed again using the properly encoding.
Thanks a lot Olaf for finding this issue and Tobias for improving the translation.
cheers!

thanks a lot for fixing this. This would have rendered the long awaited preview (any day now, right? ;-) pretty much broken in the german version. Now I can hold my breath and look forward to the preview.
