How to Disable Chat Portlet and other questions .....

Hi,


I'm evaluating social office, looks really good but need to limit/hide the access to some portlets to some users and configure to fit the needs of the organization.

First:
We need to implement a document repository where all the users can access but only few could modify. How can I configure ?



Second:
* How can I disable Chat portlet to some users?
* How can I disable wheater portlet to some users?
* How can I disable contact portlet to some users?

Hi:
you're talking about permissions and Liferay is great at that.

You can configure your document library so that a role (for example "editor") has the rights to edit and then asign all your editors that role.

This is similar in every Liferay portlet

Hi Rafael

You will find that there is a reasonable amount of constraints using Social Office vs Portal due to the nature of the focused application of Social Office.

The next release of Social Office should have more flexible built in but for now Portal will most probably answer more to your requirements.

Portal 5.2.3. also seems to be more stable than Social Office 1.5b at this time. I believe the next release will be much better in many respects and will be based on the next Portal release 6. It could be well worth to wait before spending too much effort on customising the current version seeing that the next release is not too far in the future (we hope).

I'm going to try Portal and if it fits probably stay with it, hoping next version of SO arrives not to long from now.
