mobile theme for SO?

When I installed SO, the admin interface/control panel shows a setting for the mobile theme for mobile users however my phone (Palm Pre) does not seem to invoke it. I already figured out that you can NOT apply other themes to SO even if they are installed so I was thinking that maybe the mobile device theme fell into the same category. If this is the case, it would seem a mobile theme would be useful... of course it might just be my device.
