Release Information and Schedule

Liferay generally aims to do a new release every 12-18 months, with update releases inbetween each major release. Each release has an associated name (for example Liferay Social Office 2.0 CE GA1) and numeric version (for example 6.1.1). You can read details about the versioning and the release process on the Versioning Policy page.

When new releases are planned or released, they will appear on this page. To get notified, subscribe to the RSS feed at the bottom of the page, or get involved with our various community programs to keep abreast of latest developments.

Getting Support

Support for Liferay 6.1 CE comes from the wonderful and active community, from which Liferay itself was nurtured into the enterprise offering it is today. Please visit the community pages to find out more about the myriad avenues through which you can get your questions answered.

Liferay and its worldwide partner network also provides services, support, training, and consulting around its flagship enterprise offering, Liferay Portal 6.1 EE, which is generally released 1-2 months after each Community Edition release.

Introduction #

Liferay has released the fourth milestone build of the next version of Liferay. This milestone includes most if not all of the bug fixes based on the feedback from the bug squad in previous milestones, as well as several new features.

Features #

There are many new features included in Milestone 4 that you may be interested in testing. As usual, Liferay is using a JIRA Structure to visualize new features ("Stories") in each Milestone. You can see the Milestone 4 Stories, or visit the overview of Stories for all Milestones.

How to report bugs and suggestions #

We are going to use an slightly different process this time to make the communication fully open.

Bugs: Create bugs in JIRA making sure you fill the field "Affects Version" specifying the value 6.2.0 CE M4.
- Important: Please make sure you review the list of bugs reported for Milestone 4 before reporting a new one.
Suggestions: post your idea in the forum within the Beta Testing category.

The developers working on 6.2 will be monitoring the reported bugs and suggestions to provide timely answers.
