Wappalizer browser addon now detect Liferay and Alloy, together with many others tools , frameworks and platforms.

By now, only the firefox addon is up to date, Chrome addon will arrive.

What benefit does this offer us? We know we are using Liferay, so wappalizer won't tell us anything we don't know.

And personally I'd like to know how to obfuscate whatever you're pinging on so that users will not know that I'm running Liferay. That's my business, not theirs...

I dont know if it's useful, it's an information about a tool.
Personally I use wappalizer to know what tecnologies stays behind a website. It's a curiosity.
I agree with you that it's well thing to try to obfuscate what is behind the web server. With Liferay it isnt so easy...
