How to call the existing/external webservice from liferay portlet.

Hello friends,
I want to call the external webservice via SOAP (I am having the wsdl url for the web service) from my portlet.
FYI, I am using liferay 6.
How can I call the existing web service from my portlet ?? Please let me know the steps to follow for calling the webservice.
Please share any wiki /link for same ??
Any help would be appreciated.

You can do simple thing is try to create simple java project which will consume that web-service and create jar file for it.
And then put that jar file in your current plugins custom portlet and access there methods accordingly.

Thanks for the reply.
I did try to create a jar file, but still I am not able to access the classes of the web services in my portlet.
I believe there is is problem in jar file, i'll keep on trying and let you know.

I made it working... recreated the jar , and now I am getting the xml response.
