liferay remote deploy error - Could not publish to the server. java.lang.Nu

Hello. I am new to these forums so I am sorry if this problem has been repeated before but I could not find another thread on this issue.
I am doing development on liferay 6.2 on Ubuntu. I am using liferay-ide-eclipse-linux-x32-2.2.2-ga3-201501300730.tar.gz, liferay-plugins-sdk-6.2-ce-ga2-20140319114139101.zip,liferay-portal-tomcat-6.2-ce-ga2-20140319114139101.

I have a remove server setup on another ubuntu server with the adapter deployed with no problem and I can create in eclipse a remote server with no problems
either. The problem is when I do to deploy a new portlet to the remove server a error pops up saying "Could not publish to the server.
java.lang.NullPointerException". At my wits end here. If you need more info let me know. any help appreciated.

Are anything happens in logs on the remote server side at time of deploy?

no nothing in the logs. I suspect it is at the IDE.

Hello Eric,

I didn't reproduce the error you've run into.

I've configured a remote server as you described on different linux 32 OSes.
Then I create a portlet plugin on IDE using the same version of sdk: "sdk-6.2-ga2" and runtime: "liferay v6.x runtime stub"(the remote server runtime).
Deploy the portlet plugin to the "remote server" on IDE, it works.

Could you elaborate a little bit more on your reproduction steps and detailed error message if you still encounter NullPointerException error?

Hi - Does it have to do with the type of portlet you create?
I am creating a portlet and not a plugin portlet. file->new->liferay portlet.

Hi ERIC OLSEN,

1. Open Eclipse
2. Go to Help -> Eclipse Marketplace
3. Search by liferay
4. Click "Install" button at "liferay Integration for Eclipse" section

After Installation

a. Go to Window --> Preference
b. Type liferay in search button
c. liferay will get listed in left Panel.

1. Download LifeRay from http://liferay.com/downloads
2. Select bundle with tomcat
3. Unzip the file downloaded
4. Create a folder name as portal in home directory
5. Copy the unzip file (liferay-portal-6.2-ce-ga2) from downloads to portal folder
6. Open portal ---> liferay-portal-6.2-ce-ga2 ---> tomcat-7.0.42 ---> bin
7. Run startup.sh file in terminal from root

Hi - this looks like its for a local server on the same computer. I am trying to do remote deployment with drag and drop.

I have the same problem with Liferay IDE. I'm unable to publish my liferay plugins to remote server although I have installed REMOTE IDE CONNECTOR.
I have this error with eclipse when trying to deploy :

Could not publish to the server.
