PRESS RELEASE: Liferay's Core Business Generates A 50 Percent Revenue Jump In First Half Of 2011

LOS ANGELES--(PRWEB)--Liferay, Inc. today announced a 50 percent growth in revenue through its core business during the first half of 2011 from the same period last year, largely driven by strengthening adoption from industries such as financial services, health care, manufacturing and higher education. These sectors are seeing growing needs for the cost-effective, flexible web portal strategies that Liferay offers.

As the provider of the world's leading enterprise-class open source portal, Liferay has a rapidly growing community of 46,000 registered users. The web portal leader is on track to see its financial performance continue to strengthen and accelerate through the second half of 2011.

Liferay's total global revenue saw an approximate 50 percent increase in its core business of providing support and other professional services over the same six-month period in 2010. The 50 percent increase is in addition to growing OEM business with major vendors in technology, telecom, and information services.

Enterprise leaders are increasingly choosing Liferay over much bigger competitors for their enterprise portal and collaboration needs, according to Cheung. In an economic environment requiring fiscal responsibility, efficiency and innovation, companies choosing Liferay cite the product's flexibility and modularity, breadth of features and ease of use, which together help businesses respond quickly in an agile fashion to changing markets. Financial services companies are building highly personalized online user experiences, health care companies are providing greater information transparency, and universities are responding to students accustomed to highly dynamic, collaborative web environments.

The financial performance reflects strong enthusiasm for Liferay among developers and decision makers. In the first half of this year, Liferay saw its average rate of downloads nearly double to 125,000 downloads per month, compared to the average 64,000 downloads per month in the same period last year.

Web traffic is also accelerating--Liferay has seen in the first six months of 2011 a 41 percent jump in monthly visits to the company's website from more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. Weekly site visits are up by 25 percent.

Business outlook:
In the second half of 2011, Liferay will embark on new opportunities for its ecosystem of partners and developers with the launch of the highly anticipated Liferay Marketplace. End users will be able to find, purchase, download and install third-party Liferay applications through the new site. The collaboration is aimed to make Marketplace the premier destination for solutions built on the Liferay platform.

Liferay is also set to unveil Liferay Portal 6.1EE, the platform's newest version, at the upcoming West Coast Symposium (Anaheim, Calif., Sept. 21 and 22).
