Liferay Symposium North America 2018 Code of Conduct

As a company, one of our core values is to value people. This extends beyond just in the way we do business, but in the environment we create at events. We believe that this Code of Conduct will help us support an environment of respect and courtesy for everyone joining us this year.

All attendees, speakers, sponsors, organizers and volunteers at LSNA 2018 are required to follow the Code of Conduct.

The Short Version

Liferay is committed to providing a safe event for everyone so that our community can remain healthy and supportive, both online and in person. Liferay does not tolerate discrimination, harassment or unacceptable behavior of any kind.

Please demonstrate professionalism, kindness and respect for other individuals. In the event of improper behavior, event staff reserve the right to take action they may deem appropriate.

Should you witness or experience unacceptable behavior, please let a member of our event staff know immediately so that we can prevent such behavior from continuing. Attendees found violating the Code of Conduct may be asked to leave the event, and may be banned from future Liferay events.

The Not As Short Version

Through Liferay Symposium North America 2018 (”Event”), Liferay seeks to create a positive environment through valuing the participation and respecting the opinions of all members of the Liferay community. As such, Liferay expects Event participants to show respect and courtesy throughout the Event.

This Code of Conduct details our standards for all participants at the Event, and the consequences for unacceptable behavior. This Code of Conduct shall also apply to event-related online communities and social media. All attendees, sponsors, speakers, organizers, and volunteers shall abide by this Code of Conduct, which shall be enforced by organizers throughout the event. Individuals violating this Code of Conduct may be asked to leave the event, and may be banned from future Liferay events, at the discretion of Liferay.

Liferay is dedicated to providing a welcoming atmosphere for everyone, regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion, physical appearance, body size, or technology choices. All event participants are expected to interact professionally and respectfully towards one another. Discrimination, harassment, or unacceptable behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. Unacceptable behavior includes abusive or offensive communication, intimidation, verbal threats, stalking, inappropriate physical contact, harassing, demeaning conduct, harassing photography or recording, unwelcome sexual attention, or any other behavior demonstrating a lack of professionalism or respect for other individuals.

Liferay expects anyone who is asked to stop unacceptable behavior to comply immediately. Event organizers/staff reserve the right to take whatever action they may deem appropriate in response to an individual’s improper behavior, including removal from the event and, if appropriate, contacting local law enforcement. Individuals who are removed as a result of a violation of this Code of Conduct shall not be entitled to a refund. Serious violations of this Code of Conduct may result in prohibition from future Liferay events.

Anyone who witnesses or is subjected to unacceptable behavior are encouraged bring concerns to the immediate attention of event staff. Any reports to staff may remain completely confidential, at your discretion.
