Liferay 6.1 using JDK 7?

Hi,

Jonas X Yuan ‏recently tweeted that "#liferay 6.1 added #JDK 7 compatibility". The support matrix for Liferay 6.1 EE (6.1.10 EE GA1) does not explicitly mention JDK 7. Does anyone know if Liferay 6.1 EE is officially supported on JDK 7?

Should contact [e-mail] to get the "official" words on support.

There was some problem using JDK7 when it was first released because of a bug that prevented Lucene from working properly. This bug has been fixed in the latest JDK7 and there are already several users using it. The delay in official announcement may be because of compatibility issues with portlets, which may not yet been tested fully, rather than Liferay platform itself.

There is still a couple of issues when running @ JDK7. Look at http://issues.liferay.com/browse/LPS-26564 just to see a few of them.

No, we don't support JDK 7 for production with Liferay EE... yet!! It was released too close to our QA cycles and even then its not available on all of our supported OS's. But it does "mostly work" (modulo the issues already mentioned)... Jonas probably wasn't aware of our internal test matrix for EE (he doesn't work for Liferay).
