Liferay on AWS EC2
I have been running liferay 6 on ec2 m1.large instances for sometime now. Seems good, right? well not so perfect. Here is the problem.
To save cost i would prefer to stop my dev instance but stopping an EC2 instance makes it lose certain properties such as Network Interface Card(indirectly losing MAC Address and Internal IP). This way if an instance goes through stop-start cycle its MAC Address changes and i have to re-request the license, which is a complete PIA to say the very least, though the people at Liferay has been so generous, but you would agree that its a bother.
I have tried fixing a MAC Address or creating Interface Alias with the mac address that was registered for Liferay License but nothing works. With the size of liferay community as large as it is, i am sure i am not the only one who has faced this problem. Actually i am quite much counting on that as i have exhausted all my options.
