Liferay's position improves in report that gives a snapshot of portal market competitors
LOS ANGELES – October 6, 2014 – Liferay, Inc. announced today that Gartner named the company, which makes open source portal software, as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals* for the fifth year in a row. Liferay has improved its position each year.
The yearly publication from Gartner, a leading IT research firm, positions the major competitors in the portal market based on completeness of vision and ability to execute. "We're the only independent, open source company in the Leaders Quadrant, and our sole focus is on building the best portal platform," said Bryan Cheung, CEO, Liferay. "I'm happy that Gartner has recognized our efforts in this report, and we'll keep advancing Liferay technology to embrace new opportunities like digital marketing and wearable devices."
Building on its core capabilities in portal, content management and collaboration, Liferay's latest version, Liferay Portal 6.2, helps companies quickly develop mobile apps, websites and other interfaces so they can engage users with consistency and continuity across all channels. Companies can also better understand customer needs by using Liferay to bring together information from mobile devices and back-end systems.
Liferay's portal technologies take center stage at Liferay Symposium North America, taking place this week in Boston. The agenda includes new sessions on mobile and website development, case studies from financial services, IT and other verticals, and best practices for using Liferay Portal 6.2. Attendees will also be the first to see the product roadmap for Liferay Portal 7.0 and beyond.
