Enterprise portal provider opens new office in the UK, names New Director of Operations in Europe with strategic hires in France, Benelux
FRANKFURT, Germany and LONDON, UK — (May 2, 2012) — Liferay, Inc., provider of the world’s leading enterprise-class open source portal, announced today a more than doubling in European sales with a significant rise in the demand for Liferay’s technologies in the region. In support of the growth in business, the company has opened a new office in the UK while recently naming a new Director of Operations in Europe and making strategic hires to support key European markets.

Liferay’s expansion in Europe follows its execution of a strong channel strategy, which resulted in a 150 percent growth in European sales in 2011 over the previous year and the addition of over 50 partners over a two-year period. The portal provider has made significant inroads throughout the region, including in the UK, where there has been a surge in demand for Liferay products, particularly in the public sector as the adoption of open-source technologies grows. The new office in London joins existing offices in Frankfurt, Madrid, and Budapest to become Liferay’s fourth to open in Europe over the last six years.
Joseph Shum, formerly General Manager of Liferay’s European headquarters in Germany, has taken a new role as Director of Operations in Europe. In his new position, Shum will work to further strengthen coordinated sales and operations execution among the company’s European offices to better serve the region. Also joining the team is Ruud Kluivers as Senior Manager, Business Development, to support customers in the Benelux, where Liferay has seen success with the many European Union organizations headquartered in that region. In France, Marc Brassier joins Liferay as Alliance Manager to support Liferay’s strong roster of French partners and customers, which include Société Générale and Barclay’s.
