Import an application as a portlet in liferay running in same app server

If we use liferay.war and deploy that war in the app server along with other war files. In this case can we add the other applications as portlets in Liferay ?

Just installing Liferay war file to application server may not be enough when setting up Liferay. Check following Liferay's documentation on setting up Liferay on existing application server.
