Removing UUID from image path

Hi All,
I want to put all images under docroot/images folder and access that in liferay portlets.
How can this be acheived?
Current behaviour:
In update web content display screen, you can change the image. But it have image url appended with UUID and all other stuff. I want it to be friendly.
Also there is problem with this approach that when we moved from dev to staging to production, all those UUID gets changed, so again need to setup all image path.
Isnt there any common place where all those images can be put and then access in liferay?
Any direction/tip to resolve this is appreciated.
