Deployment problem: portlets will not be registered successfully

New Member 帖子: 3 加入日期: 09-2-7 最近的帖子
Hello,

I'm running Liferay portal 5.2.1 on a Tomcat 5.5.27. When I try to install some new portlets from the official liferay portlet repository the portlet will not be deployed successfully.

Here an excerpt of the log file:
16:54:39,907 INFO [AutoDeployDir:183] Processing google-maps-portlet-5.2.0.1.war
16:54:39,909 INFO [PortletAutoDeployListener:77] Copying portlets for /opt/deploy/google-maps-portlet-5.2.0.1.war

16:54:40,279 INFO [PortletAutoDeployListener:87] Portlets for /opt/deploy/google-maps-portlet-5.2.0.1.war copied successfully.
Deployment will start in a few seconds.

After that nothing happens. There is no further deployment procedure and I will not get a "registered successfully" log entry.

I have set absolute paths for the deployment source directory and the target directory through the Plugin Installer formular.

The content of the portlets .war file is also copied correctly into the target directory /opt/plugins/google-maps-portlet.

Do you have an idea why the portlets will not be registered successfully?

The same problem will occur, when I try to deploy my own portlets and themes by pushing the .war files into the /opt/deploy folder.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Felix,

I have observed that sometimes this message comes and its misleading
but the portlet will be actually deployed. Were you able to add the
portlet onto the page??
And were you able to see the proper success message once you restart
the server and deploy a portlet??

Hi Chetan,

thanks for your reply! I did a restart of the server but there were no deployment success messages in the log. I also cannot see the portlet in the portlet pool and so I am not able to add it to a page. Do you have any further idea why the portlets are copied but not registered?

Thanks,
Felix

Felix,

Delete your portlet app from the webapps folder and redeploy it again.
Could you also try deploying(copy to liferay autodeploy folder) a simple
hello world portlet and see if its getting deployed fine.
What is the OS you are working on ? And is this issue consistent?

Dear all,
I also have a problem in deploying portlet by hot deploy mechanism.
I have developed a very simple portlet (HelloWorldPortlet) by NetBeans with plugin for portlet.
I have configured 3 files, portlet.xml (created by NetBeans), liferay-portlet.xml, liferay-display.xml as instructions of liferay's guides
But I got the warning "Portlet with the name HelloWorldPortlet is described in liferay-portlet.xml but does not have matching entry in portlet.xml" and "Portlet not found"
I have ask this problem at http://www.liferay.com/web/guest/community/forums/-/message_boards/message/2124808, see it for more details.
Please consider it.

Thanks all

Hi,

The error message explains it all. I see a space at the end of the
portlet name in your liferay-portlet.xml
"<portlet-name>HelloWorldPortlet </portlet-name>".
Please remove that space and try again.

Which version of liferay and portalpack plugin are you using?

I have fixed it, but it still does not work.
I have developed a new portlet with the same way. And I've got the same problem.
I don't know how ???
Looking forward to your help emoticon

P/S: I've using NetBeans 6.5, portal-pack-plugin-2_0_1, liferay-portal-tomcat-6.0-5.1.2

Hi Chetan,

I removed the portlet from the target folder and deployed it again by putting the .war file into my /opt/deploy folder. Liferay then starts processing the file and extracts it into my target folder /opt/plugins but it stops processing just after printing the "Deployment will start in a few seconds." message. This issue is consistent. It appears when I try to install portlets of the official liferay repository using the portlet installer even if I try to install my own portlets using the hot deployment mechanism (putting the .war into the deploy folder).

I am using a Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid) Linux server with a Tomcat 5.5.27. I have installed the "liferay-portal-5.2.1-with-dependencies.war" and I am using the Liferay Plugins SDK 5.2.1 to develop my portlets and themes.

Do I have to set a special property in the portal-ext.properties or do I need to configure any further things?

Thanks a lot,
Felix

Hello,

We have been using Liferay 5.1.0 with no issues and recently migrated to 5.2.1. I am using Apache tomcat 5.5.27 and Java 6. The backend is Oracle 10g.

When I start the portal, Liferay starts up fine but my portlets are not getting deployed properly. Although, the same portlets were working in Liferay 5.1.0.

Here's what I seeL:

13:52:37,399 INFO [PortletAutoDeployListener:77] Copying portlets for /apollo/env/JasperPortal/var/tomcat/deploy/JasperPortal.war
Expanding: /apollo/env/JasperPortal/var/tomcat/deploy/JasperPortal.war into /apollo/env/JasperPortal/var/tomcat/temp/20090217135237415

Copying 1 file to /apollo/env/JasperPortal/var/tomcat/webapps/JasperPortal

13:52:43,453 INFO [PortletAutoDeployListener:87] Portlets for /apollo/env/JasperPortal/var/tomcat/deploy/JasperPortal.war copied successfully. Deployment will start in a few seconds.

But after this, I do not see any registration of the portlets.

----

The reason we moved to Liferay 5.2.1 was that we had a "Fetch Out of Sequence Problem" when running Liferay 5.1.0 against Oracle 10g.

http://www.liferay.com/web/guest/community/forums/-/message_boards/message/682804

Hoping that the above issue has been fixed in 5.2.0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been hitting my head against this and have found no solution so far.

Please follow the steps below and certainly it should resolve your issue while deploying a new portlet:
1. Create a portlet using Plugin SDK
2. Then add all the liferay related jar files but make sure that you are not including those jar files while creating war file
Note: If you are using Netbeans and if you have installed Portlet Pack 3.1 then;
1. Create a portlet using Plugin SDK
2. Open Netbeans
3. Create New project with existing web application > Point to the portlet created using SDK
4. Once the project is created successfully, Create a new library with all liferay jar files BUT MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE UNCHECKING WHOLE LIB so that it wont be included in the war file
5. And then deploy.

It should deploy without any issue.

Does anybody have a solution for this? I'm also getting the problem as above where the last message to stdout is

11:55:22,855 INFO [PortletAutoDeployListener:87] Portlets for \home\widgetfx\liferay\deploy\sample-struts-liferay-portlet-5.2.0.1.war copied successfully. Deployment will start in a few seconds.

however nothing happens after this. Unfortunately there are no error messages or indications as to why it hasn't registered. Any advice on where to start looking would be appreciated!

Thanks

Just a follow up to this, I ended up checking the Catalina log and found that the reason certain portlets weren't deploying was due to the fact that the portlet was looking for com.liferay.support.tomcat.loader.PortalClassLoader but this was not on the classpath for liferay. After building and adding this everything worked fine. Hope this helps someone

Hello Felix and EveryOne who mighte have the same probleme.

I had the same probleme as Felix, So the way i solved it is :
- look for a directory that was newly created in the bin directory of tomcat. where you will find your portlets.
- Cory your portlets to the Tomcat's webapps directory.
- Startup your tomcat
I guess you will now find your portlets, under a categorie in add application.
I still don't know how to do that automaticly.
I hope that you can solve your probleme the same way

Hi Felix,

did Dan's trick work for you?

If not maybe my "lessons learned" helps - I still had an old plugin installer setting.

This page solved the problem for us: http://liferay-portlets.blogspot.com/2009/05/liferay-deployment-problem-deployment.html

Instructions:
a. In Liferay, open Control Panel > Server > Plugins Installation
b. Click on the "Install More Portlets" button
c. Click on the "Configuration" tab
d. Clear the "Destination Directory" textbox (leave blank)
e. [optional - to remove annoying error messages if your installation can't access liferay.com due to firewall restrictions] Delete the liferay.com URLs from the "Trusted Plugin Repositories" and "Untrusted Plugin Repositories" textareas
f. Click the "Save" button

Note: if the portlet still isn't visible, make sure the "Active" checkbox is checked in the Control Panel plugins page.

Hello,

has anyone been able to fild a solution to this problem? I am facing the same problem on Liferay 6RC2 with Tomcat. I cannot deploy a self implemented WAR file containing some Portlets. Deployment stops at "Deployment will start in a few seconds". I tried all the things described in this thread. I have one insallation on Windows, where I can deploy the application and one installation on Linux, where the WAR cannot be deployed. The WAR has been deployed on both systems before. I have a page that contains my portlets. Now as deployment of the updated WAR file failes I only get the message "Portlet is temporarily unavailable" for all my portlets.

I switched the log level to debug for com.liferay.portal.deploy. This is the output on the linux machine, where the deployment stops:

I checked the implementation of BaseExplodedTomcatListener. It tries to match the file extension to ".xml". This of course failes, as I try to deploy a WAR file. However, on the windows installation I get exactly the same output, but after a few seconds deployment continues with these additional log messages:

Any ideas?

Alexandru thank you, after hours of hunting around your post was the only thing to work for me. Your blog appears to be down but I found it in google cache. Incidentally I had to redeploy some portlets afterwards but it all worked.

Deleting all the xml files different from ROOT.xml from the TOMCAT_ROOT/conf/Catalina/localhost folder fixed my issue too!

Hi all.

I had exactly the same problem but no extra files in TOMCAT_ROOT/conf/Catalina/localhost. No exception were thrown during deployment just not deploying the portlet.

Recently I find out using not serializable backing object in Spring MVC causes same issue. (If you want to see exception during deployment increate logging level for com.liferay.portal.deploy package.)

Regards,
John
