Hello,

We have the directory portlet deployed which lists all users (LDAP Import) as it should when I login as myself (community owner), when a normal user logs (LDAP) in they can see the directory portlet and search box but unable to any users listed and the search doesn't return any results.

What am trying to achieve is anyone including guests that hit this page they can view the user list and preform a search as we have multi organisations access this portal excluding the users imported via LDAP

Any ideas where am going wrong?

Thanks in advance

As of my understanding you want to show directory portlet for guest user.
But i think right now directory portlet is only viewable to logged in user.
So you need to make changes at code level and need to remove logged in permission.

you need to find portal.xml file and edit the file..

Locate to portlet 11. Remove view action-key from guest-unsupported block, then add view action-key in guest-defaults block..

portal.xml file is in portal-impl.jar file

Many Thanks for the replies especially Sreeraj that's added Guest access to the Portlet - but guest or normal users are unable to browse the directory (no users listed) they are only visible if I make an user a administrator of the portal instance which I cant do obviously, I need guests/users to be able to see / search the directory listings.

Any ideas?

I think whatever config I showed here is enough to view/search users in guest mode. Can u go to Directory portlet's permission page and enable the view mode for guest role.

HI Sreeraj,

I tried the configuration you mentioned on portal.xml. I can view people on directory, but when I click on the user, it says you do not have permission. Can you advise or help.

Thanks

I think Guest users won't be able to see User information using directory portlet. Just log in to the portal and check whether you are able to see User information.
I guess what ever config i mentioned above is for accessing directory portlet for guest users. To see user information, you need to modify resource-action/portal.xml file.

Just search for User model and remove VIEW element from <guest-unsupported> block and add it to <guest-deafults> block
