I am using Liferay 6.1.0 CE and OpenLDAP. User data get exported to the LDAP just fine. However, when someone registers as a new user via "Create Account" and password auto-generation is enabled, the new user's entry in LDAP does not contain the userPassword field. If password auto-generation is disabled and the new user has to enter a new password manually, then it is indeed exported to the LDAP.
Of course it would be much more convenient if the passwords were autogenerated by Liferay and then exported to the LDAP.
My question: is this a bug, or am I doing something silly? Thanks for any pointers/explanations.

I'm having the very same problem. Have you managed to solve this issue ?
I've read Jona's article, but I'm afraid it's not covering this scenario. Which is a quite common one

Probably better to write up a new liferay issue to get it resolved by liferay because it seems to be a bug in liferay.
