Liferay Connected Services (LCS) Client

End of Life

Subscribers purchasing a Liferay subscription will benefit from a full enterprise-grade End of Life ("EOL") policy (also referred to as End of Service Life ("EOSL") policy) in accordance with their subscription level.

Liferay Connected Services is comprised of 3 sets of components: LCS Client, LCS Platform, and LCS Portal. This End of Life policy shall govern the Liferay Connected Services Client only. The LCS Platform and LCS Portal are Cloud applications and not subject to an End of Life policy.

End of Life for Liferay Connected Services Client

The LCS Client is distributed via the Liferay Marketplace.

Premium Support Phase

Every compatible Liferay DXP or Portal Version will have a corresponding LCS Client version supported from its First Ship Date up until the end of life for that compatible Liferay DXP and Portal version.

For all other LCS Client versions, the Premium Support Phase shall begin on its First Ship Date and end two (2) years from the First Ship Date of the Major or Minor Version or until the End of Life date of its specified Compatible Liferay Portal or DXP Version, whichever is earlier.

During the Premium Support Phase, subscribers will be provided:

  • full support, in accordance with a subscriber's respective subscription level
  • access to Liferay's Help Center and customer knowledge bases;
  • access to all upgrades of the Liferay Connected Services Client developed against the Compatible Liferay Portal or DXP Version; and
  • security alerts and critical updates.

In addition, the following guidelines apply:

  • Liferay support will direct subscribers to workarounds and customer knowledge bases.
  • Liferay support may direct subscribers to upgrade to a more current version/release of the Liferay Connected Services Client.

Sustained Support Phase

After the end of Liferay Connected Services Client Premium Support Phase, the LCS Client version will enter into the Sustained Support Phase.

During the LCS Client Sustained Support Phase, subscribers will be provided:

  • access to Liferay's Help Center and Knowledge Base; and
  • access to all updates and upgrades of the Liferay Connected Services Clients

Subscribers on Sustained Support will not be provided with:

  • new updates, fixes, security alerts, data fixes, and critical patch updates;

In addition, the following guidelines apply:

  • Liferay Support will identify existing issues and direct customers to existing fix packs, workarounds, and consolidated service packs available in Liferay's Help Center.
  • Liferay Support will direct customers to upgrade to a more current version/release of the LCS Client in line with the service life of the Liferay Portal or Digital Experience Platform version which the customer is using.

Definitions

Compatible Liferay Portal or DXP Version means a version of Liferay Portal or Digital Experience Platform (DXP) that is compatible with a specific LCS Client version as specified in the LCS Client details on the client downloads page or the LCS Client details on the Liferay Marketplace.

Liferay Connected Services (LCS) Client refers to the Liferay Connected Services Client application available on the Liferay Marketplace. The LCS Client connects and registers to LCS Platform. It is a Liferay app and installable in a Liferay Portal or DXP instance.

Liferay Connected Services (LCS) Platform is a set of cloud applications that implements the LCS tools and services.

Liferay Connected Services (LCS) Portal is a part of LCS Platform. Subscribers can access the LCS Portal website for LCS services setup and a presentation of visual services such as system analytics.

First Ship Date means the date on which Liferay first makes available, for license or sale, a Major Version or Minor Version of the LCS Client.

Major Version means generally released new features, modifications or enhancements to the LCS Client that may have new prerequisites for installation, such as fix pack version of the Liferay instance, or require an action in addition to the typical Liferay app upgrade. A major version is designated by a change in the first number.

Minor Version means generally released new features, modifications or enhancements to the LCS Client that have no new prerequisites or additional update requirements. A minor version is designated by a change in the second number.

Maintenance Version means generally released bug fixes, security and other critical updates. A maintenance version is designated by a change in the third number.
