LOS ANGELES – January 22, 2018 – Liferay, Inc., which makes digital experience software for enterprises, today announced that Gartner has recognized the company as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Digital Experience Platforms.* In the report, Liferay is positioned in the Magic Quadrant among a field of 21 vendors based on its completeness of vision and ability to execute. Liferay’s flagship software, Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP), was assessed as part of the company’s evaluation.
The Magic Quadrant report defines DXP in the following way: “Gartner defines a digital experience platform (DXP) as an integrated set of technologies, based on a common platform, that provides a broad range of audiences with consistent, secure and personalized access to information and applications across many digital touchpoints.” The Magic Quadrant for Digital Experience Platforms is an evolution of the Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portals, in which Liferay had been named a Leader for the past seven years.
The needs arising from digital business transformation has provided a catalyst for change from the traditional portal into a digital experience platform. Liferay has been at the forefront of this change with Liferay DXP, software for delivering consistent, connected digital experiences for employees, customers, partners and other audiences.
“We’re pleased that Gartner has identified Liferay as a Leader for what we believe is a unique portal heritage that has grown to be much more than a portal. We find the evolution of the Magic Quadrant – from horizontal portals to DXPs – to be in line with our customers’ priorities for creating and managing exceptional digital experiences,” said Ed Chung, VP of Global Product Management for Liferay.
“Portals helped integrate systems and provide personalized and secure access, but they were largely driven by IT needs. Businesses today need integration and personalization because their interactions with customers are digital in nature. They need the technology that portals bring to the table, but portals have also had to evolve to be more business-savvy, solving business user needs more innately through the platform. That’s what DXPs accomplish,” Chung continued.
Designed to support all facets of a digital business – from marketing to operations to customer service – Liferay DXP enables enterprises to execute their digital strategy more quickly and effectively. The foundational software allows businesses to create engaging and personalized digital experiences across web, mobile and connected devices. Liferay DXP also uniquely benefits from its strong portal heritage, with exceptionally flexible technology that ties together multiple systems through backend integration. This cohesiveness is crucial for connecting applications and the people using them in order to share customer data and truly function as one connected business to better serve customers.
In this report, leading analyst firm Gartner evaluated the vendors based on a number of criteria including ability to execute (product or service, overall viability, sales execution/pricing, market responsiveness/pricing, marketing execution, customer experience, and operations) and completeness of vision (market understanding, marketing strategy, sales strategy, offering (product) strategy, business model, vertical/industry strategy, innovation, and geographic strategy). A Gartner Magic Quadrant is a culmination of research in a specific market which provides a wide-angle view of the relative positions of the market's competitors.
